Sunday fast, slow, long and short rides

Every Sunday we run at least 2 and often 4 or 5 club rides from the Aldeli Cafe in Alderley Edge. The groups range from a steady, shorter ride via intermediate pace to fast.

The rides begin with a briefing. The shorter routes are usually around 25-30 miles and the longer from 40-50 miles. Special rides may be much longer and hillier.

Each group’s pace is always set by the slowest rider and nobody will ever be dropped or left behind. We don’t stop in the middle of a ride other than for 5 minutes by the side of the road, but there’s a rewarding drink and food stop waiting for you at the end of each ride at our base, Aldeli Cafe.

We have gpx files available to Members for all our runs, allowing easy navigation for all riders if you want the route in advance.

If you would like to come along and join us for a run, non-members are welcome on Sunday rides but space is limited so please don’t just turn up. We ask that you let us know you would like to come along using our Contact Form, and fill in the online a Consent form. We can then make sure that there is space that week and check that you’re on the most suitable ride to enjoy it to the full.

Our ride leaders are experienced cyclists and will be happy to advise you.

Thursday mid-week ride

We also run a mid-week Members’ ride on Thursday for most of the year (Winter months are weather permitting).

This sets off from Bramhall. The routes vary depending on time of year but the usual routes are around 25 miles out to the hills for some climbing and descending or 30 miles slightly longer, flatter route. Return to Bramhall is around 9.30pm.

Other than high summer, it’s dark by return so lights are mandatory on this ride.

Due to the later finish and slightly trickier conditions, this is only for Adults and older youth riders and this isn’t suitable for younger rides or as a first trial ride out with the Club. We ask that first rides are on a Sunday – see above.
